Writer Job Summary

Our growing company is in need of a talented and experienced writer to craft and edit content for our digital platforms. The main goal of this role is to generate educational and engaging content targeted at businesses, nonprofits, and governmental organizations. The ideal candidate will be an expert wordsmith and storyteller that can showcase local marketing and advertising opportunities in a compelling way. The successful applicant will be a team player that’s ready to give and receive feedback. This person should be a stickler for meeting deadlines and great at multitasking, as we balance multiple projects at once. Preference will be given to those with experience at media outlets and knowledge of content marketing.

 

Writer Responsibilities and Duties

  • Produce, edit and customize articles for all our platforms, including our website, Linkedin, Facebook
  • Research intended topics thoroughly to gain vital background information. Perform online and on-the-ground primary research for blog posts, articles, guides, and other content
  • Conduct interviews with relevant persons to further gain knowledge on a given topic 
  • Always utilize trustworthy and valid sources and confirm the accuracy of work according to factual evidence
  • Create content campaigns that align with market objectives and company goals
  • Cite all material used for research and/or direct quotations
  • Pitch articles to third-party websites for publication and guest post on partner websites
  • Outline and organize larger projects and present your plan to upper management
  • Ensure all written work is authentic and original
  • Consistently produce and distribute error-free content that complies to the company style
  • Always meet established deadlines/be deadline-driven
  • Share a genuine interest in our company
  • Strong grasp of proper sentence structure
  • Ability to write in a variety of formats and tones/Grammatical guru
  • Ability to be dedicated
  • Organized
  • Detail-oriented – Write, edit and proofread text before submission
  • Able to works well independently or with others
  • Self-starter
  • Excellent communicator

Writer Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Creative Writing, Journalism or related field
  • Proficiency in English spoken and written
  • Ability to research and learn about a wide range of topics
  • Excellent teamwork and organizational skills
  • Experience working with content management systems, such as WordPress and Drupal
  • 3+ years of freelance or agency writing experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
